Chris is currently a faculty member of the English Department at the University of Idaho. He teaches fiction in the MFA program and various creative and professional writing courses at the undergraduate level.

Across fifteen years as an educator Chris has worked with students aged fourteen to eighty-four. At Stanford and Cornell he taught multi-genre creative writing courses and first-year writing seminars. In Idaho he teaches courses like Techniques of Fiction, Business Writing, Technical Writing, and Traditions of Posthuman Narrative.

Chris pursues inclusivity and accessibility in his courses by employing universal design principles and decentering traditional authority. His pedagogy promotes student agency and collaborative learning.
